“Last year I worked in sales and got a warning from LinkedIn for automating sending messages, so I decided to create my own safer LinkedIn automation tool instead, using Claude and Claude code.”

Editor's note: Jonathan Lis is a 38-year-old solo founder in London who worked at Google and then in sales. In a Sep 21, 2026 post he says he built ZenMode "without knowing how to code": he used Claude to work out the architecture around safety (an Electron desktop app driving a dedicated Chrome browser, so outreach runs from the user's own IP), then built it with Claude Code. In another post he calls it "what I built entirely with Claude and Claude code". He quit his job before he had a single customer. TrustMRR lists Electron, Next.js, TypeScript and React with Stripe, a founded date of Feb 6, 2026, and the UK. His X bio links zen-mode.io, and TrustMRR links the listing to the same account.

How they got customers

He uses ZenMode to sell ZenMode: it scrapes target customers on LinkedIn and runs connection requests and follow-ups, which he says books about five meetings a week. He also posts build-in-public stories on Reddit, LinkedIn and X, and works on SEO with "alternative to" comparison pages, a regularly updated blog, reviews and directory listings. Early on he sold lifetime deals to get testers.

Steps to try

  1. Build the safer version of a tool you already used: he got a LinkedIn warning from a cloud automation tool, so ZenMode runs on the user's own machine.

  2. Use your own product as your first sales channel; ZenMode's outreach books him about five meetings a week.

  3. Write "alternative to" pages against bigger competitors and keep a blog going for search traffic.

  4. Offer lifetime deals in the first one or two months to get testers before asking for subscriptions.

  5. Check MRR against a verified source: his post said about $2.5K, while Stripe data on TrustMRR shows $1,729.
