“Building Respira, a pollen tracker for allergy season. Mostly Opus/Sonnet for the backend logic, GPT for the copy.”
Editor's note: Pablo Fernández (@pfernan95dev, Madrid) builds small iOS and Mac apps; he is an experienced developer, not a beginner. He wrote that Respira's backend logic was built mostly with Claude's Opus and Sonnet models, with GPT for the app copy, and elsewhere that "all my projects are built w Claude". He doesn't say how much of the iOS app itself AI wrote. His X bio lists Respira and links its App Store page (seller Pablo Fernandez Jimenez), and TrustMRR links the listing to the same account. Revenue is small and seasonal; we include it as an honest early-stage example.
How they got customers
App Store search is the core: he also runs an ASO tool, and he launched in Japan ahead of its cedar pollen season on purpose so the app has time to rank. Respira went from Spain only to 35 countries in two months. He builds in public on X, where his bio says it has 2,000 users.
Steps to try
Build on public data people can't easily read: Spain's pollen monitoring network.
From the sourceUse AI for the backend logic and the copy, and keep the scope small.
From the sourceLaunch in new countries before their season starts so the app has time to rank in search.
From the sourceExpect seasonality: revenue fell to $0 in August, between pollen seasons.
Our suggestionOffer a lifetime purchase for a seasonal need; he mentions lifetime purchases among Respira's sales.
